Honey Locust Bowl (Notched)

$50.00

This honey locust bowl embodies the beauty of bowl turning because sometimes, when working with natural products and elements like wood, the unexpected happens. In this case, a piece of wood near the rim of the bowl flew off while I was turning it on the lathe. The structural integrity of the rest of the bowl is just fine, but that one piece wanted to make this bowl even more special.

All of my bowls are made from locally sourced and responsibly harvested wood from the Ames and Des Moines Area. I take great pride in giving new life to old trees that needed to come down for one reason or another.

The bowl is finished with pure tung oil, which is a food-safe, all natural drying oil. Because it’s a drying oil, it bonds with the wood fiber, unlike mineral oil, which never dries. This will prolong the life of the bowl and will decrease the need for maintenance.

Dimensions (DxH): 7×2
